Castle Malting Château Pale Ale Malt is a flavorful Belgian base malt designed for brewers who want more malt character and color than a traditional Pilsner malt or light 2-row base malt. Kilned slightly longer than Château Pilsen malt, it produces a rich, pronounced malt flavor with a warm golden color while maintaining plenty of enzymatic power for conversion.
At approximately 3.2–4.3° Lovibond, Château Pale Ale Malt works especially well in Pale Ales, English Bitters, Amber Ales, Belgian Ales, IPAs, Porters, and other malt-forward beer styles. It can be used as up to 100% of the grain bill or paired with Pilsner malt when you want additional malt depth without adding heavier caramel or roasted flavors.
Its strong enzymatic activity also makes it an excellent base malt for recipes containing larger amounts of specialty grains with little or no diastatic power.
Why Brew With Château Pale Ale Malt?
For brewers looking for a versatile base malt with more flavor than a neutral 2-row or Pilsner malt, Castle Malting Château Pale Ale Malt is an excellent choice for adding malt depth while still allowing hops, yeast character, and specialty grains to shine.
