Sweet, caramel, toffee
This is a drum roasted crystallized malt that improves foam, enhances viscosity, and contributes golden hues with a candy-like sweetness. Our Caramel Malts are roaster produced, making them the fullest flavored and best-performing Caramel Malts.
Briess 2-Row Caramel 40L is a light crystal malt made with 2-row barley. It imparts a golden color, rich sweetness, and mild caramel and toffee flavors. Crystal malts also add body and improve head retention. Usage is progressive, starting light to balance pilsners and reaching the maxiumum 15% to impart color and sweetness to darker ales, stouts, and porters.
Crystal malts are gently cooked during the malting process. Cooking initiates the enzymatic conversion of starches into fermentable sugars, and caramelizes some of the sugars as the malt reaches its final color. This eliminates the need to mash crystal malt, and ensures that some of the sugars will survive fermentation to sweeten the beer. Briess caramel malts are roaster produced to create glassy, crystallized sugars with rich flavor and color.
**Pilsners, Lagers, Pale Ales, Bitter IPA's and up to Porters and Stouts.
Recommended Usage: 3-7% For balance in Pilsners 5-10% Lagers ranging from California Common, Vienna, Bock to Dark Lagers 5-15% Variety of ales including Pale Ales and bitter IPAs, through dark ales like Porters and Stouts

Every employee, along with the owner especially, is not only knowledgeable but kind and helpful. I am a total amateur and this company made me feel welcome and excited to get back home and start brewing.
I've lived and brewed in many cities across the country, and Perfect Brewing has the best inventory and most knowledgeable and helpful people ever!
I have been ordering their kits for brewing beer since I started back in March 2020. I have never had a bad tasting kit. They have even given suggestions and been extremely helpful. I highly recommend them for any of your brewing or wine-making needs. Keep up the great work.
